Paying Money In At The Post Office

Some Banks will let you pay in your money at the Post Office. You can ask at the Post Office if you can do this.

bank envelopeYou might first need to ask the Bank for some special envelopes. These envelopes will have the Bank’s address on them.

They might have a space for you to write in your Bank Account number.

You will need to get a paying-in slip.

paying in at post officeYou can fill this in yourself and then take it to the Post Office with your cheque, or you can ask the Post Office worker to fill it in for you.

The Post Office worker will ask you to sign the slip.
The Post Office worker will then take the slip and your cheque and put it in the special envelope, if you have one.

They will then give you a receipt.

ACCOUNT NUMBER

This is the number that identifies your Bank Account you will be the only person with this number.
PAYING-IN SLIP

This is what you can use to pay money into your Bank  Account.
CHEQUE

This is a piece of paper that you can fill in to pay money to people.
RECEIPT

This is to show that you have paid money into or out of your Bank Account.
